Persian Shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus) is a striking foliage plant prized for its iridescent purple leaves with shimmering silver undertones and deep green veins. Its bold, metallic coloring adds dramatic contrast to garden beds, borders, and containers, making it a standout in both mixed plantings and as a feature plant. With a bushy, upright habit and moderate growth rate, it provides season-long visual interest. In Manitoba, it is best grown as a warm-season annual, as it is highly sensitive to frost but can be overwintered indoors in bright conditions.

Persian Shield Strobilanthes, 4.5" Pot
Light Requirements
Thrives in bright, indirect light to partial sun. Some direct morning or late-day sun enhances its vibrant purple colouring, while too much intense midday sun may cause leaf scorch. Lower light conditions can result in less vivid colour and leggier growth.
Water Requirements
Prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings, but avoid letting the plant dry out completely. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Toxicity
This plant is generally considered non-toxic to pets and people, making it a suitable choice for most indoor and outdoor spaces.
