Overdam Feather Reed Grass
Calamagrostis x acutiflora ‘Overdam’

Elegant and eye-catching, Overdam Feather Reed Grass is a compact, variegated ornamental grass that adds refined texture and vertical interest to the garden. This versatile perennial features narrow, upright clumps of green-and-cream striped foliage that stay attractive from spring through fall. In early to midsummer, tall, feathery plumes rise above the foliage in soft tones of beige and buff, aging to golden hues as the season progresses.

Smaller and more refined than its cousin Karl Foerster, Overdam reaches 3–5 feet tall with its flower spikes and about 2 feet wide, making it ideal for smaller gardens, urban landscapes, and mixed borders. Its variegated leaves provide a bright contrast to darker foliage and bring a sense of lightness and movement to planting schemes.

Adaptable and cold-hardy (Zone 4), Overdam thrives in Canadian gardens, tolerating a wide range of soil types and growing conditions. It’s low-maintenance, drought-tolerant once established, and deer resistant—perfect for modern designs, cottage gardens, or naturalistic plantings.

Bring year-round structure and graceful beauty to your landscape with Overdam Feather Reed Grass—a striking, compact grass that combines colour, form, and resilience.
