Vertigo Grass (Pennisetum purpureum ‘Vertigo’) is a dramatic, heat-loving ornamental grass prized for its bold, deep burgundy to near-black foliage and strong upright, fountain-like form. Its rich coloring creates striking contrast in garden beds, containers, and mixed planters, especially when paired with bright annuals or chartreuse foliage. Fast-growing and vigorous, it provides height, structure, and a modern architectural feel throughout the season. In Manitoba, it is grown as a warm-season annual, as it is not frost-hardy and thrives in warm, sunny conditions.
