Poppy Shirley Angel’s Choir Seeds feature an award-winning mix of silken, double poppies in enchanting watercolor hues, including cream, apricot, peach, coral, lavender, pink, and bicolors. Developed over years of breeding, these lustrous blooms sway gently on 3-foot stems above frothy gray-green foliage, creating a graceful addition to any garden. To plant directly in the garden, sow seeds early in spring in a finely textured, full-sun bed. Mix seeds with dry sand to help with spacing, and cover lightly with soil. Keep the seed bed moist until seedlings emerge in 7 to 21 days. Poppies don't transplant well, so sow directly in the garden and thin seedlings to 6 to 8 inches apart for optimal growth. These easy-to-grow flowers thrive in cool weather and bloom beautifully with minimal care. They tolerate frost and, in mild winter climates, can even be sown in late fall to overwinter for a spring bloom. Regular watering helps, especially in hot climates, and they make excellent cut flowers if harvested just as buds begin to open. Allow spent blooms to form pods and self-sow for next season’s flowers.
